Zupeel - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'4 X 9'5

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece showcases Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, featuring a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. This low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable, layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, and reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, sun-bleached tones aesthetic.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, or worn-look surface treatments. Distressed vintage rugs result from decades of use combined with overdyeing, a process where the original textile is submerged in a saturated single-colour bath, leaving ghost traces of the original pattern visible beneath the wash. These pieces reference the mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving tradition, where items were produced in small village workshops using regional motifs.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction allows this rug to lie flat against the floor, making it ideal for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. Its profile is compatible with underfloor heating systems and serves as a functional base for layering over larger carpets.
