Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about shopping, shops, collections, and using BazaarSpot.
General
What is BazaarSpot?
BazaarSpot is a shopping hub for discovery. We gather local and online shops and their catalogs in one place so you can browse, search, compare, favorite shops, bookmark items, and curate collections to share with friends.
Is BazaarSpot a store? Do you sell the items listed?
No. We are not the seller. We do not own, stock, ship, or sell the items listed. Every item links to the shop's own website, where you buy under that shop's prices, terms, and delivery policies.
Is BazaarSpot free to use?
Yes. Browsing, searching, favoriting, bookmarking, creating collections, and every other shopper feature are free. There are no fees and no markups.
How does BazaarSpot make money?
Some placements are sponsored, and some outbound links may earn us a commission or referral fee when you click or buy. Sponsored placements are labeled where they appear, and none of this ever changes the price you pay.
Where does the shop and item information come from?
From the shops themselves or from their public catalogs. Shops that connect their store keep their catalog in sync automatically. Listings compiled automatically rather than published by the shop itself are labeled as such.
Why can't I just browse without an account?
Some parts of BazaarSpot require an account. Pages like About, FAQ, For Shoppers, For Shops, and the blog are open to everyone; the rest needs an account.
How do I contact BazaarSpot?
General questions and feedback: [email protected]. Account help: [email protected]. Shop owners: [email protected]. Privacy requests: [email protected]. Legal and copyright notices: [email protected]. Every message reaches a real person.
Which countries is BazaarSpot available in?
BazaarSpot currently runs separate markets for the United States and Egypt. Each market lists shops from its own country, with prices in that market's currency.
Account & sign-in
How do I create an account?
Go to the sign-up page and enter your details, or continue with Google. If you already have an account, just sign in.
Can I sign in with Google?
Yes. Use "Continue with Google" on the sign-in page.
Why do I need to verify my email?
Verifying proves the address is yours, so we can send password resets and important account notices to the right person. Use the link in the verification email we send after signup.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Choose "Forgot password" on the sign-in page and enter your email. We will send you a link to set a new password.
How do I change my password, email, or phone number?
Go to Account settings and open the login section. You can update your email and phone number there, and change your password.
How do I edit my profile?
Go to Account settings to change your name, username, profile photo, bio, country, and language. You can also add social and messaging accounts such as Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp to your profile.
Can I have more than one account?
No. It is one person, one account, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
How old do I need to be to use BazaarSpot?
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account.
I think someone else is using my account. What should I do?
Change your password right away, then write to [email protected] so we can look into it and help secure your account.
Discovering
How do I find shops and items?
Browse your home feed, explore categories from the navigation bar, discover new shops, or use search, which covers every shop, item, and category on BazaarSpot at once.
How does my feed decide what to show me?
You pick your interests once, and after that every item you open, like, dislike, bookmark, or favorite tunes what surfaces next: new shops in categories you care about and items like the ones you keep coming back to.
Can I change my interests?
Yes. Go to Account settings and update your interests at any time. Your feed is re-ranked to match.
How do I tell BazaarSpot I don't want to see something?
Use the like and dislike buttons on an item. Liking brings more of the same; disliking tells your recommendations to show less like it.
Can I reset my recommendations?
Yes. In Account settings, choose "Reset preferences". Every item and shop you liked or disliked is forgotten, and recommendations start again from your interests. Your interests are kept. This cannot be undone.
Are the prices and stock on BazaarSpot accurate?
We keep catalogs in sync, but prices, availability, and details come from the shops and can change before we pick them up. Always check the shop's own page before you buy.
What do the badges on a shop mean?
They highlight what a shop offers, such as cash on delivery, physical stores, free returns, online payment, or Instant Checkout. They come from the shop's own information, so confirm the details on the shop's site.
What are sponsored placements?
A sponsored placement is a shop or item a business paid to feature. It is always labeled, and it never changes the price you pay.
What does "similar shops" show?
On a shop's page, similar shops lists other shops that sell comparable items, so you can compare before you decide.
Saving & collections
How do I favorite a shop or bookmark an item?
Use the heart icon on any shop card to favorite it, or the bookmark icon on any item card to save it. Your favorite shops and bookmarked items are available from the sidebar.
What are collections?
A collection is a shelf you build yourself: items and shops grouped around a theme, like a renovation, a wardrobe, or gift ideas for one person. Start one in two clicks from any item.
Who can see my collections?
You decide per collection. Private collections are visible only to you. Shared collections are visible only to the people you send them to. Community collections are public for everyone on BazaarSpot to browse.
How do I share a collection with friends?
Share it with specific people from the collection. It lands in their "Shared with me" page, and they get a notification.
Where do things people share with me go?
Open "Shared with me". Everything other members have shared with you is collected there.
What are community collections?
Community collections are the public kind: other people's taste laid out as shelves you can wander through and borrow ideas from. Publish one of yours to add it.
Can I delete a collection or remove saved items?
Yes. You can remove any bookmark or favorite, and edit or delete collections at any time. Copies that other people already saved into their own collections may remain.
Friends & community
How do I add friends?
Send a friend request from someone's profile. When they accept, you are connected. Incoming requests wait for you on the friend requests page.
What can other people see on my profile?
Your username, profile photo, bio, and your public collections, reviews, comments, and posts. Your email address, phone number, and saved addresses are never shown publicly.
How do I mention someone?
Type @ followed by their name in a post or comment and pick them from the suggestions. They get a notification, and the mention links to their profile.
Can I write reviews?
Yes. You can rate and review both items and shops. Reviews must reflect your genuine experience, and you must disclose any payment or incentive you received to write one.
Can shops reply to my review?
Yes. Shops can reply to reviews from their portal, and you get a notification when they do.
What content is not allowed?
Anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, or sexually explicit; impersonation; fake, paid, or coordinated reviews; spam or unsolicited promotion; and anything that targets or exposes another person. See our Terms of Service for the full rules.
How do I report a shop, product, collection, or post?
Open its ••• menu and choose "Report". Pick a reason, add any details that help, and send it. Reports are private, and our team reviews every one and may remove content or suspend accounts that break our terms. To report a review or a user, write to [email protected] with a link.
Notifications
What will BazaarSpot notify me about?
Friend requests and accepted requests, likes and comments on your posts, mentions, shop replies to your reviews, and things people share with you.
How do I turn notifications on or off?
Go to Account settings and open the notifications section. You can enable push notifications for this browser and switch each notification type on or off.
Why am I not getting push notifications?
Check that push notifications are enabled in your notification settings and that your browser allows notifications for BazaarSpot. Push has to be enabled on each browser or device separately.
How do I stop marketing emails?
Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email. Service emails such as password resets and security notices still reach you.
Buying & orders
Do I buy on BazaarSpot?
No. Purchases happen on each shop's own website under their prices, terms, payment, and delivery policies. We send you straight there and stay out of the way.
Is the price on BazaarSpot the same as on the shop's site?
Yes. We add no markup, and sponsored placements and commissions never change what you pay. If a price looks different, the shop's own site is the one that counts. It may have changed since we last synced.
What is the cart for?
The cart lets you gather items from many shops in one place, grouped by shop. When you are ready, BazaarSpot opens each shop's own site so you can complete the purchase there.
What is Instant Checkout?
Some shops support Instant Checkout: add your shipping information once and we prefill that shop's checkout from your BazaarSpot cart, so you don't retype your address. Payment still happens on the shop's site.
Why did only one shop open when I checked out?
Browsers block a site from opening many tabs at once. When that happens, we list the remaining shops so you can open each one yourself.
What does "Mark as purchased" do?
It removes the selected items from your cart and adds them to your purchase history, so your cart only holds what you still plan to buy. It does not place or confirm an order with the shop.
Can I pay through BazaarSpot?
No. We never take payment. Payment options such as card, cash on delivery, or digital wallets are whatever each shop offers on its own site.
Who handles shipping, delivery, and returns?
The shop you bought from. Delivery times, shipping costs, warranties, returns, and refunds all follow that shop's own policies.
I have a problem with an order. Who do I contact?
Contact the shop first, since the purchase is between you and them. Please also tell us at [email protected] so we can look at whether that shop belongs on BazaarSpot.
An item is marked unavailable. Why?
The shop no longer lists it as in stock, or it was removed from their catalog. Keep it bookmarked if you want to check back later, or look at similar items from other shops.
Which currency are prices shown in?
Prices are shown in the currency of the market you are browsing: US dollars in the United States and Egyptian pounds in Egypt.
For shops
Why should my shop be on BazaarSpot?
BazaarSpot puts your catalog in front of shoppers already looking for what you sell, in personalized feeds, search, categories, and shoppers' collections, and sends them to your own storefront to buy. You keep the customer and the sale.
Does BazaarSpot take a cut of my sales?
No. The sale happens on your own site, and we never sit between you and your customer. Where a link earns us a commission or a placement is sponsored, it is labeled, and it never changes the price your customer pays.
How do I get my shop onto BazaarSpot?
Go to "Join BazaarSpot" and choose "Join now". Onboard your store in a few guided steps and connect it so your catalog syncs automatically. You can also suggest a shop from the "Add a shop" page, and we will email you once it is processed.
Which store platforms are supported?
Shopify and WooCommerce connect automatically. If you run Magento, a custom-built site, or another platform, pick it during onboarding: you join the waiting list and we will onboard your catalog with you.
How do I connect a Shopify store?
Choose Shopify during onboarding and enter your store URL as yourstore.myshopify.com. Authorize BazaarSpot in your Shopify admin; we pull your catalog and branding, and onboarding finishes as soon as your first sync completes.
How do I connect a WooCommerce store?
Choose WooCommerce during onboarding, download the BazaarSpot plugin, and install and activate it on your site. Paste the connection key from onboarding into the plugin's settings. Your store then pushes its catalog to BazaarSpot, and onboarding finishes automatically.
I lost my WooCommerce connection key. What do I do?
Generate a new one by reconnecting your store from onboarding, then paste the new key into the plugin's settings. Keep the key private.
My shop is already on BazaarSpot. How do I take it over?
Claim it. Search for your shop on the "Claim your shop" page and prove you control its website. Once your claim is approved, you manage the listing, catalog, and reviews.
How do I verify that I own my shop's website?
Choose one of two methods. DNS TXT record: add the record we give you at your domain's DNS provider, which is best when you control the domain but not the site content. HTML meta tag: add the tag we give you inside the head of your homepage. Then click "Verify now". DNS changes can take up to an hour to propagate.
I can't add a DNS record or edit my website. Can I still claim my shop?
Yes. Choose "I can't verify this website" and request a manual review. Tell us your role at the shop, a phone number, your preferred contact method, and why you can't verify, and our team will verify your claim personally.
What do the claim statuses mean?
Pending verification: we are waiting to find your DNS record or meta tag. Pending review: our team is reviewing your claim. Approved: the shop is yours to manage. Rejected: the claim was not accepted. Expired: the claim was not verified in time, so start a new one.
It says I already manage another shop. Why can't I add this one?
Each account can manage one shop, so we can't grant you a second one automatically. Contact [email protected] and we will help you finish onboarding.
Can I have my shop's listing corrected or removed?
Yes. We may list publicly available information about shops that have not registered. If you represent a shop, write to [email protected] and we will correct or remove the listing within a reasonable time, or claim it to manage it yourself.
Shop portal
What is the Shop Portal?
The Shop Portal is where you run your shop on BazaarSpot once your claim or onboarding is approved: performance analytics, catalog management, review replies, and team access.
What analytics do I get?
Impressions, views, clicks, click-through rate, bookmarks, favorites, shares, and ratings, for your shop and for each item, with trends over time rather than just totals.
How do I keep my catalog up to date?
A connected Shopify or WooCommerce store syncs automatically. From the portal you can also maintain items, pricing, availability, metadata, and the search fields shoppers find you by.
Can my team help run the listing?
Yes. Invite team members with role-based access from the portal, and revoke a member or an active session at any time.
Where do shopper clicks go?
Straight to your own website. Every item links to your storefront, so you keep the customer relationship, the data, and the sale.
Can I get featured on BazaarSpot?
Our editors curate feed sections that spotlight shops and items worth a closer look. Sponsored placements are also available and are always labeled. Write to [email protected] to ask about either.
Is there a badge I can put on my own website?
Yes. The "Find us on BazaarSpot" badge links your visitors to your shop on BazaarSpot, and it works for visitors who don't have an account.
Privacy & safety
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-site targeting. We run no third-party ad or tracking networks.
What data do you collect?
What you give us (account and profile details, saved addresses, and the content you create) and what we record as you use the site (pages, items, and shops you open, searches, and clicks), which powers your recommendations. Our Privacy Policy lists everything in detail.
What do shops learn about me?
Only aggregate counts, such as how many views and clicks their listings got. They don't get your name, email, or contact details unless you contact them yourself or use a feature that says it will pass them on.
Do you track me after I leave for a shop's site?
No. When you follow a link to a shop, we record which item or shop you clicked so shops know what sends traffic, but we do not follow you onto their site. Once there, the shop's own privacy policy and cookies apply.
What cookies does BazaarSpot use?
Only what the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, remembering your theme, country, and language, holding your cart, and first-party visitor and session IDs. Our analytics runs on our own domain.
How do I delete my account?
Go to your profile, open the "Danger zone" tab, type your email address to confirm, and delete. When it is your only profile, this deletes your whole account right away, including your posts, collections, reviews, and friends. It cannot be undone. If you have replied to reviews on behalf of a shop, write to [email protected] instead.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Write to [email protected] to request a copy of your data, a correction, a deletion, or a restriction on how we process it.
How is my account kept secure?
Your data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and access to our systems is controlled and regularly reviewed. Use a strong, unique password and tell us right away if you think your account is compromised.
How do I spot a trustworthy shop?
Check the shop's reviews and ratings, its features such as cash on delivery or free returns, and whether it manages its own listing. Always read the shop's own policies before you pay, and use "Report" in the shop's ••• menu if it seems suspicious.
Someone posted my copyrighted content. What do I do?
Email [email protected] with the URL, a description of your work, and your contact details. We investigate and remove infringing material where the claim is valid.
