Veggie Mix 8-5-0.5 for Farms and Large Vegetable Gardens
Veggie Mix 8-5-0.5 in the original 50 lb bag is a slow-release, animal-derived fertilizer formulated for vegetable production. Made from meat and bone meal, it supplies nitrogen for leafy growth and phosphorus for roots, flowering, and fruit development. The bulk bag is the best fit for market gardens, farms, and repeated applications across large beds.
Why Choose the 50 lb Bag?
- 8-5-0.5 analysis for a wide range of vegetable crops.
- Original manufacturer packaging for larger planting areas.
- Granular material is easy to broadcast and incorporate.
- CDFA-listed for use in organic crop production.
Application
Before planting, incorporate 10–20 lb per 1,000 square feet, or 400–800 lb per acre, based on soil fertility and crop needs. The product can also be side-dressed around established plants. Water after application and use a soil test to avoid unnecessary phosphorus.
Smaller Sizes
For raised beds or smaller gardens, choose the 5 lb Veggie Mix. That repackaged size is not represented as organic.

Planning Your Fertility Program
Veggie Mix is best used as part of a soil-test-based plan rather than as a complete correction for every nutrient. Its relatively high nitrogen and phosphorus analysis makes it useful before demanding vegetable crops, while the low potassium analysis means some soils or crops may require a separate potassium source. Account for compost, manure, cover crops, and other fertilizers already applied. Incorporate the granules through the active root zone before planting when practical, or place a measured side-dress beyond direct stem contact. Irrigate after application so soil organisms and moisture can begin making nutrients available.
Storage and Handling
Keep the bag closed, dry, and protected from animals. The product is animal-derived and may attract pets or wildlife, so promptly incorporate or water it in and do not leave spilled material on the soil surface.
