3. Add darker shades in small, irregular swipes across the nail with a nail brush or use blooming gel for a similar effect (pro tip: blend two or more shades within each layer before curing for a more mottled look)
4. Repeat until you've reached your desired effect. For extra depth, finish the tortoiseshell effect with a thin layer of your original base shade.
5. Apply top gel polish and cure according to instructions.
