About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by an aesthetic that evokes the mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving tradition, often characterised by faded tones and abrash-like colour variations. Distressed rugs utilise surface treatments that mimic age, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile that exposes the structural base, often achieved through an overdyed finish that leaves a ghost-pattern of the original motif. The medallion motif serves as a central circular or diamond-shaped anchor, a hallmark of classical design that provides a structured focal point within the composition.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction allows this rug to lie flat against the floor, making it highly functional for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and living rooms. This design is compatible with underfloor heating systems and is suitable for layering over larger carpets or hard flooring.
