About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by an aesthetic that evokes the passage of time, often incorporating faded tones and abrash-like colour variations. Distressed designs utilise surface treatments that mimic natural wear, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile areas which reveal the structural base. This often results from an overdyed finish, where original motifs are submerged in a saturated colour bath, leaving ghost-pattern traces visible beneath the wash to reflect mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving traditions.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this rug to lie completely flat, making it ideal for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, or dining spaces. Its profile is perfectly suited for layering over larger carpets, placement under doors, and efficient heat conduction in rooms with underfloor heating.

Why Choose This Rug?

• — Features a distinct red palette with a distressed finish that reveals subtle historical patterns through the overdyed surface.
• — Constructed from a cotton and polyester blend, providing the necessary breathability of natural fibres alongside the moisture resistance and durability of synthetic materials.
• — The flatwoven construction ensures a no-pile, no-shed surface that remains stable under heavy foot traffic.
• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
• — Optimised for versatility, this rug is safe for use with underfloor heating and functions well as a layering piece in any room.
