Temaos - Vintage Medallion Rug - 5'5 X 8'9

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece captures Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, featuring a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. With its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, this layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, and sun-bleached tones.

About This Style

Vintage rugs evoke an antique aesthetic through the use of faded tones, abrash colour variations, and distressed surface treatments that reveal the underlying structure. These pieces often feature a central medallion motif—a hallmark of classical Anatolian design—frequently rendered in geometric or stylised forms. Floral compositions derived from botanical motifs, such as vines and blossoms, further define this category, reflecting the mid-20th-century tradition of small-scale village production.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction makes this rug suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and entryways. Its low profile is ideal for layering over larger carpets or placement on floors with underfloor heating.

Why Choose This Rug?

• — Features a central medallion surrounded by intricate floral motifs in sun-bleached beige and brown tones.

• — Flatwoven construction ensures the rug lies flat against the floor and is compatible with underfloor heating.
• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
