Star Jasmine Vine

Star Jasmine Vine brings classic Southern fragrance and glossy evergreen beauty to trellises, arbors, fences, containers, and garden borders. Known botanically as Trachelospermum jasminoides, this flowering vine is loved for its crisp white pinwheel blooms and sweet jasmine-like scent from late spring into summer.

Train Star Jasmine on a trellis near a patio, porch, gate, or walkway so the fragrance can be enjoyed up close. Its dark green foliage keeps the planting looking polished between bloom cycles, while its twining habit helps soften hard lines on fences, posts, and outdoor structures.

This versatile jasmine vine can also be used as a spreading groundcover in warm climates. Left unsupported, it forms a dense mat of evergreen foliage that helps cover open soil, soften slopes, and fill larger planting areas with low, leafy texture.

Star Jasmine grows in full sun to part shade. Full sun encourages the heaviest flowering, while part shade can help reduce summer stress in hotter climates. Plant it in well-drained soil, water regularly while it establishes, and give climbing plants a sturdy structure for support.

Whether you want a fragrant flowering vine for a trellis, a glossy evergreen groundcover, or a container plant for a sunny porch, Star Jasmine Vine brings a timeless look and a welcoming scent to the landscape.

Popular Companion Plants:

• Create a Jasmine-scented, white-blooming garden. Plant it with the Jubilation Gardenia and Fragrant Tea Olive.
• Plant it with other climbing vines that bloom at different times to extend your flower season. The Carolina Jessamine is a non-aggressive vine that won't choke out the Star Jasmine, or vice-versa.
• We love planting them with pyramidal evergreens like Juniper Trees. Either in front of them as a mat or behind them on a trellis wall. Their naturally refined growth habit contrasts unbelievably well with this elegant vine. Otherwise, try it with a similarly elegant tree, the Italian Cypress.
