Description
Waltham Butternut Squash is by far our most popular winter squash. Fruit are 8 to 10" long with thick, cylindrical necks. Waltham Butternut's rich orange flesh has a nutty flavor, and the fruit store well late into winter. Yielding heavily, it shows remarkable uniformity and is virtually free of slim or crooked necks. Its rind is creamy tan and ridged. It is an ideal size for the average family and has won the highest approval from our customers.
Time-Tested Winter Squash Performance
Starting Squash Waltham Butternut from seed yields productive vines that produce four to five fruits per plant. Each mature butternut develops small seed cavities that maximize usable flesh. The dry texture and sweet flavor improve after two months of storage, giving you a marketable product well into winter when fresh produce prices climb. This All-America Selections winner from 1970 remains the benchmark for commercial butternut production due to its consistent performance and excellent shelf life.
Harris Seeds tests all seed lots for high germination rates before they reach your operation. Our catalog offers thousands of vegetable, herb and flower seed varieties with quick order turnarounds to keep your planting schedule on track.
