Description

The black cherry glitter at #144 in the SNS Pro Blue Book. Four ways to buy it on this one listing: the 1.5 oz Gelous Color dipping powder, the GelStar gel alone, the gel and lacquer duo, or the 3-in-1 set with all three. Same number, same shade, whichever you pick.

This is one of 16 glitter codes in the Blue Book. Glitter dip shows the sparkle in the powder itself rather than in a top coat, so the shimmer runs through the whole layer and does not wear off the surface. Most techs use it as an accent nail or over a matching cream from the same family.

Why this powder

  • The same shade in gel and lacquer. Every piece of #144 is matched to one color, which is why the same number is printed on the jar, the gel and the lacquer.
  • Built as a system. Our Nutri-Plus system adds vitamins and minerals to the base coat and the powder, and the GelStar gel is formulated with vitamin E and calcium.
  • Two services from one jar. Dip it over base with no lamp, or pick it up with monomer and sculpt it as an acrylic.
  • Four ways to buy. Powder, gel only, duo or the 3-in-1, at the same price for every code in the book.

How to apply #144

Prep is the same for every format: push the cuticle back, shape, take the shine off the plate, wipe with alcohol.

  1. Dip. Two rounds of thin base and #144 powder, activator, file and buff, a second activator coat, top coat. No lamp.
  2. Gel. Gel base, two thin coats of the #144 GelStar and a gel top, each cured, then wipe the tacky layer.
  3. Lacquer. Two air-dried coats of the #144 lacquer for toes or touch-ups.

Both the dip and the gel come off with an acetone soak.

The dip needs a base, an activator and a top coat: they are under Dip Essentials. Gel base and top for the GelStar are under Base & Top Gel.

Questions about #144

How do I get a smooth surface on a glitter powder like #144?

Glitter powders carry the sparkle in the powder itself, so the surface is a little more textured than a cream before you file. Do the same rounds of base and powder, then file lightly, buff, and rely on the top coat to level the finish. Most techs use a glitter as an accent nail over a cream from the same family.

Is this a dip powder or an acrylic powder?

Both. Over base it works as a dip overlay; with monomer it sculpts like an acrylic. One jar of #144 does either job.

How long does #144 last, and how does it come off?

Most clients get a few weeks from a dip set, though prep and lifestyle move that a lot. The dip and the gel both come off with an acetone soak; the lacquer with regular remover. Never peel a dip or gel set, it takes the surface of the nail with it.

Color swatches vary with screens and lighting. For accuracy, match against the physical SNS Blue Book. Packaging styles may vary by batch.
