Sinaen - Vintage Medallion Rug - 5'2 X 8'11

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece celebrates Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, showcasing a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. Featuring a low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface that is layering-friendly and underfloor-heating safe, this reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character with a ghost-pattern 70s craftsmanship, finished in a cotton-polyester blend with single-piece artisanal sun-bleached tones.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by their aged aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash colour variation, and distressed surface treatments. These pieces reference the tradition of mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving, where items were produced in small village workshops using regional motifs. Distressing occurs through decades of use or intentional overdyeing, a process where a rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath to reveal a ghost-pattern of the original design beneath the wash. Medallion rugs feature a dominant central circular, oval, or diamond-shaped motif, which serves as a hallmark of classical Anatolian carpet design.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction of this rug ensures it lies flat against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and entryways. Its profile is layering-friendly, allowing for use over larger rugs or carpet, and it is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems.
