About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an aged aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments. Distressed rugs utilise a specific surface treatment to mimic decades of use, often employing an overdyed finish where the original piece is submerged in a saturated colour bath, leaving a ghost-pattern of the original design visible beneath the wash. A medallion rug is defined by a dominant central circular, oval, or diamond-shaped motif, which serves as the anchor for the composition and is typically framed by a structurally distinct border.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction allows this rug to lie flat against the floor, making it highly suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and entryways. Its profile is ideal for layering over larger carpets or placement in rooms equipped with underfloor heating.

Why Choose This Rug?

• — Features a prominent central medallion motif rendered in stylised turquoise tones, characteristic of mid-20th-century Turkish design.
• — Constructed from a cotton and polyester blend; cotton provides essential breathability, while polyester adds long-term durability and moisture resistance.
• — The flatwoven construction ensures a no-pile, no-shed surface that remains stable underfoot and is highly resistant to wear in busy environments.
• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
• — Designed for versatile use, this rug is compatible with underfloor heating systems and serves as an effective layering-friendly option for varied interior layouts.
