Pulse Tattoo with Oroborous Celtic Design

The pulse of life, the heartbeat of existence, of light and all we perceive, held fast in the grip of the Oroborous, eating his own tail. The scientist for whom this pattern was created as a symbol of frontier optics research explains it thus: "To me, the red pulse or beat symbolized (and is actually derived directly from) an ultrafast blast of light. I use such pulses of light in my research, and they hold a special meaning to me. However, any short pulse signal looks something like this so it can be interpreted in many ways - heartbeat is good and actually resonates with the way we use ultrafast light pulses - a steady train of pulses that supplies all life to an experiment."
