DESCRIPTION:

A fancy yellow pear shape diamond of 4.70 carats sits at the center of this platinum ring, EGL certified at VS clarity. Natural yellow diamonds of this weight are uncommon, and the pear is the outline that shows the color best, because the long tapered pavilion returns the body tint along the whole length of the stone instead of concentrating it under the table.

The side stones repeat the center's shape. Two pear cut diamonds of 0.50 carats each are set on either side of the head, and small round cut diamonds are pave set half way across the band for a further 1.00 carat. The white diamonds on this ring are E to F in color and VS1 to VVS1 in clarity, so they read as colorless alongside the yellow rather than muddying it. Total diamond weight is 6.73 carats.

The platinum band weighs approximately 11.4 grams. Platinum stays white permanently without rhodium plating, which matters more than usual on this ring: a white gold mounting whose plating wears toward yellow would sit directly against a yellow center stone and cost it contrast.
