Description
- Handcrafted Quality: Rattan reed handwoven over a wood floor with a wrapped rim, one bent wood handle, a plate slot under the floor closed by a leather strap, and short wood feet built in, by an Old Order Amish family on the Iowa-Missouri border, and signed by the weaver who made it.
- Six Places For Everything: Up top, a 6 x 7 inch napkin well, a 10 x 2 3/4 inch bay for the ketchup, mustard and relish, a 2 1/2 x 4 inch slot for the salt and pepper, and two 2 x 3 inch pockets for the flatware. Underneath, a 10 x 10 x 2 inch shelf slides the paper plates in flat, held by the leather strap; the caddy stands a little over 10 inches square.
- The Table In One Trip: Carry it out by the handle, set it in the middle of the picnic table or the deck, and the condiments, napkins, plates and forks are where everyone can reach them; carry it back in with the mess inside. It works the same on the kitchen island for taco night.
- Measures: Napkin well 6" x 7"; condiment bay 10" x 2 3/4"; seasoning slot 2 1/2" x 4"; two pockets 2" x 3"; plate shelf 10" x 10" x 2". Contents not included.
- Three Trim Colors: Choose Plain, Wine & Blue, or Wine & Green. The color is woven in as dyed reed, not painted on, and on the plain finish the stain takes to each piece of wood in its own way.
- Optional Extras: An engraved solid brass plate is optional and sold right on this page. It stands on its own feet.
- American Heritage: Handwoven in the USA and signed by the Amish weaver who made it. Backed by our lifetime guarantee, with free shipping and no-questions returns on every order.
Laura, in 2024: "We often have friends over and this will make it much easier to set up and to clean up. Everything in one place." Marsha, in 2025: "I'm really liking the little condiment picnic basket". Lisha: "This is such a practical piece, and very sturdy and attractive." Cassie, in 2026, found "even a handwritten note on the underside from the family!"
It is the piece that goes with every picnic basket we weave, since the baskets carry the food and the Pal carries the table. The baskets themselves, small to extra-large, are on the picnic baskets page.
An Old Order Amish family weaves it by hand on the Iowa-Missouri border, in the same community as the rest of our picnic baskets, and signs the bottom before it leaves the farm. Standard shipping is free, and rush delivery is offered at checkout when a wedding or a birthday is close. It ships gift-ready, with no prices in the box, a free gift note at checkout, and a short letter about the family who made it. Like every basket we sell, it carries our lifetime guarantee, and returns are no questions asked.
