About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, or worn-look surface treatments that reference mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving. Distressed rugs utilise surface treatments to mimic age, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile areas that reveal the base structure. This process is frequently achieved through overdyeing, where an existing rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath, leaving ghost traces of the original pattern visible beneath the wash.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction of this rug allows it to lie flat against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. Its low-profile design is ideal for layering over larger rugs or placing in spaces with underfloor heating.
