Piatuma - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'5 X 9'1

This brown, hand-woven, one-of-a-kind rug reflects Anatolian heritage through its flatwoven construction, faded patina, and abrash detail. Featuring an overdyed finish, low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable, layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, reversible weave, soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, and sun-bleached tones, it captures a distinct vintage aesthetic.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by an aged aesthetic, often utilising distressed surface treatments such as abrash colour variations or erased pile to reveal the structural base. A medallion rug features a dominant central circular, oval, or diamond motif that anchors the composition, typically framed by a distinct border. The overdyed finish is achieved by submerging the rug in a saturated colour bath, allowing ghost traces of the original pattern to remain visible beneath the wash.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this rug to lie completely flat, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and dining rooms. Its thin profile is ideal for placement under doors, layering over larger carpets, or use in rooms with underfloor heating.

Why Choose This Rug?

• — Features a prominent central medallion motif with a distressed brown finish and visible ghost-pattern detailing.
• — Constructed from a cotton and polyester blend; the cotton provides breathability, while the polyester adds durability and moisture resistance.

• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
• — Designed for high-traffic durability and compatibility with underfloor heating systems.
