Description

Peaceful Valley High Biomass Mix for Annuals is a made-to-order blend for fields and garden areas where producing a large volume of cool-season plant material is the primary objective. Faba Beans, Biomaster Peas, vetch, and oats combine upright, trailing, broadleaf, and grassy growth in one stand, helping the mix occupy more above- and below-ground space than a single species.

The legumes contribute nitrogen-rich foliage and larger roots, while oats establish quickly, add fibrous roots, and provide an upright framework for the peas and vetch. This balance supports weed competition, erosion protection, and a mixture of softer legume residue with more carbon-rich cereal material. When incorporated or left as surface mulch, that varied biomass can support a longer soil-building process than a uniform stand.

This is a custom raw-seed blend. Treat it with the appropriate inoculant immediately before planting so the legumes can form effective nodules. Plan termination before seeding because a high-biomass stand can become difficult to handle if allowed to grow overly mature. Mow or incorporate before viable seed develops and while stems remain manageable. Earlier termination speeds decomposition; later termination creates more total residue but may require additional time before the following annual crop is planted.

  • Season: Cool-season annual legume and cereal mixture
  • Contains: Faba Beans, Biomaster Peas, Vetch, and Oats
  • Application Rate: 100 lb per acre
  • Inoculant: Strongly recommended for effective nodulation and nitrogen fixation. Use Pea Vetch Lentil Inoculant (treats 100 lb), Garden Combination Mix Inoculant (treats 8 lb), or Garden Combination Mix Inoculant (treats 50 lb). Choose the package size that matches the amount of seed being planted, and plant promptly after treating the seed.
  • Uses: High-volume green manure, nitrogen fixation, biomass production, weed competition, erosion control, and annual-crop rotations
  • Management: Terminate before mature seed develops and allow heavy incorporated residue time to begin decomposing
  • Ordering: Custom blend; minimum order quantity is 50 pounds
  • Estimated Mature Height: 36–72 inches when allowed to reach flowering or seed-head maturity. Mowing, grazing, or harvest typically keeps the stand shorter.
