Pavoan - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'7 X 9'3

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece celebrates Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, featuring a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. With a low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable, layering-friendly, and underfloor-heating safe design, this reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, and sun-bleached tones.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, or worn-look surface treatments. Distressed vintage rugs specifically utilise surface treatments that mimic decades of wear, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile areas that reveal the base structure. This process is frequently combined with overdyeing, where a rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath to create a ghost-pattern effect, leaving traces of the original design visible beneath the wash.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this rug to lie flat against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. It is also compatible with underfloor heating systems and serves as a practical base for layering over larger rugs.
