Plant Overlease Pawpaw with at least one other pawpaw variety nearby and design the area like a small edible woodland grove, using a wide mulch ring beneath the trees and low native perennials or ferns around the edges; the mulch keeps the root zone protected, the understory gives the planting a finished look, and the second pawpaw helps turn those mysterious spring flowers into fruit worth bragging about.
