Native Americans were the first to value this prairie wildflower for its remarkable medicinal benefits. Beautiful flowerheads loaded with active compounds bloom on hardy plants that reach 3-4’ tall at maturity. Germination is challenging, rarely exceeding 50% so be patient!

  • Germination: 20+ days
  • Bloom time: Spring/summer
  • In late winter or spring, gently blend seeds with moist sand and refrigerate for 90 days before direct sowing ¼" deep in full sun. Keep soil evenly moist until seedlings are established. In late fall, direct sow seeds ¼" deep gently covering with soil.
