N°94 Dual Beam Scribe
Historically, one marking gauge was set to the thickness of the hinge while the second was set to the width of the mortise. That procedure works just as well today laying out mortises for the hinges of a jewelry box or small cabinet. But the dual settings could also represent the length and shoulder width of a tenon or the pin and tail lengths of through dovetails.
The precisely machined shoulders on both sides of the gauge make the tool a small square, too. With an overall length of 3" it is ideally suited for working on the edges of boards, where larger squares would be awkward.
We made Woodpeckers No. 94 Dual Beam Scribe a fairly faithful reproduction of the early-20th century Stanley #94. It has all the same features and functions, but we build it the “Woodpeckers Way”. The body is precision machined on state-of-the-art CNC mills from aircraft grade aluminum billet stock, finished in our familiar “Woodpecker Red” color. The beams and locking knobs are turned from stainless steel. The marking cutters are hardened to take and hold an edge, delivering crisp, clean scribe lines. And the scales are laser engraved to the same tolerance we use for our Precision Woodworking Squares and Woodworking Rules.
Like the other tools in our Made to Order program, the No. 94 Dual Beam Scribes are built in batches to fill pre-orders. We will accept orders now through November 2, 2026, then build just enough to fill the orders. Don't miss out…order yours today!
