Description
Matrixx Bone-Char Fluoride Backwashing Filter Reduces Fluoride From All Taps
The Matrixx automatic backwashing fluoride filter system uses NSF-approved bone char media (high carbon, calcium phosphate matrix with high affinity for fluoride ions) in a granular, backwashing configuration. The system is fully automatic, regenerating (i.e. backwashing) itself to purge captured fluoride and suspended solids, restoring the media bed and maintaining flow performance. The smart electronic controller ensures efficient operation, minimal maintenance, and consistent fluoride reduction.
Water must be dechlorinated before entering the bone char filter. Chlorine can rapidly exhaust or damage bone char media. A carbon pre-filter or whole-house dechlorination stage is strongly recommended for all installations.
Softened water is not required for operation but is highly recommended to extend the lifespan of the bone char media and valve components, especially in areas with hard water.
Benefits
- Removes fluoride and other residual ions (e.g. arsenic, lead, some heavy metals) via bone char adsorption
- Protects against re-release of fluoride during quiescent time (via backwash)
- Provides clean, low-fluoride water to every tap in the home
- Minimal maintenance thanks to automated backwash cycles
- Long media life due to periodic regeneration
- Improved peace of mind for health-sensitive households
- Extremely user friendly
- Low maintenance due to automatic operation
Legacy View App
- Communicates with your Smartphone via Bluetooth
- Simply set the time of day, time of regeneration, and backwash frequency
- Uses 9 Volt battery, so that if power goes out during regeneration, it automatically returns to service so as not to continually waste water to the drain
- Monitors remaining battery life
- Fully programmable cycles
- Can be "precision tuned"
The electronic control center is easy to set and once set, you never have to set it again (except for DST). The Matrixx system incorporates an automatic backwash which removes accumulated contaminants and automatically backwashes the filtration media. This eliminates pressure drop and keeps the media in top condition.
Features
- Electronic controller has only one internal moving part - simple to set. No complicated programs.
- Includes built-in bypass valve
- 12 Volt Electrical system uses less than $3.00 electricity per year and offers no danger of electrical shock
- Battery backup keeps the memory during power outages
- Chrome tank protector always looks like new and wipes clean easily. Looks just as good in 20 years! (Up to 20 GPM)
A properly sized backwashing fluoride filter from any company that uses certified bone char and quality components will deliver excellent performance. Many systems claim extraordinary removal rates; what matters more is proper sizing, contact time, and regeneration frequency.
Who is a candidate for a Matrixx Bone-Char Fluoride Filter?
- Anyone in area(s) with elevated fluoride levels in the water supply
- People who prefer point-of-entry (whole-house) reduction
- Households that already use softened water or other pre-treatment and need a fluoride-specific stage
- Situations where compact RO systems are impractical
Some water systems require you to treat each faucet independently—shower filters, faucet filters, fridge filters, etc. The Matrixx Bone-Char Fluoride Filter is a whole-house system that delivers low-fluoride water throughout your entire home.
Water Just the Way You Prefer It
- Reduces fluoride and residual ions from your water supply
- Keeps your water safe, fresh, and low in unwanted anions
- If downstream disinfection (e.g. chlorine) is applied, this stage helps reduce competing chemistry and ensures fluoride adsorption integrity
Not sure what size filter you need? Bigger is usually better but remember, a system should be sized according to flow rate that is available for backwashing. A system must be backwashed at the specified flow rate to ensure it is flushed properly.
