Description

Manganese Sulfate 31% for Commercial and Large-Area Use

Manganese Sulfate 31% Powder in the original 50 lb bag supplies 31% manganese and 18% sulfur in a water-soluble form. It is intended for correcting a confirmed manganese deficiency in field crops, orchards, vineyards, greenhouse production, or other large planting areas. Manganese supports chlorophyll formation, enzyme activity, and nitrogen metabolism, but excessive application can create nutrient imbalances.

Application Options

  • Broadcast: 20–60 lb per acre before or at planting.
  • Band or side-dress: 10–30 lb per acre.
  • Foliar: 1–3 lb per acre on actively growing plants before full leaf expansion.
  • Compatible with appropriate fertigation programs when fully dissolved.

Base the rate on a current soil or tissue test, follow crop-specific guidance, and verify compatibility before tank mixing. Avoid breathing dust and store the closed bag in a dry location.

Organic status: The original 50 lb package is OMRI Listed and registered with CDFA for use in organic production. For smaller projects, the 5 lb repack is not represented as organic.

Choosing a Manganese Source

Symptoms such as interveinal chlorosis can resemble iron, magnesium, disease, or root-zone problems, so visual symptoms alone are not enough to confirm manganese deficiency. Soil pH strongly affects manganese availability: high-pH soils can limit uptake even when total manganese is present. Correct the underlying pH or drainage issue when appropriate and use manganese sulfate only at a rate supported by analysis and local crop guidance.

Mixing and Handling

Add the measured powder slowly to water with agitation, confirm that it dissolves, and make a small compatibility test before combining it with other inputs. Do not mix concentrates directly. Clean application equipment after use, prevent drift during foliar application, and wear the protective equipment specified on the label and SDS.
