Loughan Island Disc Celtic Tattoo Design

A true piece of history, this decorated bronze disc was discovered at Loughan Island, in the river Bann, County Derry, Ireland. 

It is the symbol of Bridget (goddess of smith craft, poetry,healers) and the Bann disc is part of a set of scales for weighing precious metals. Brigit was also known as Edar and she was the goddess of the dawn.

As a tattoo design it is a beautifully symmetric set of spirals, representing the triple Goddess and triplicate nature of Celtic religion. Simple, timeless, bringing the art of the past to life in skin.
