Add Elegant Variegation and Year-Round Color with the Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra

Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra Offers Striking Foliage and Unmatched Landscape Durability

Graceful Variegation and Year-Round Texture

The Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra brings effortless elegance and durability to modern landscapes. Its soft, flowing, grass-like foliage displays stunning green and silver-white variegation that adds light and movement to any garden design. This evergreen perennial forms compact, arching clumps that remain vibrant throughout the year.

Developed by the Sunset Western Garden Collection and Southern Living Plant Collection, Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra was selected for its striking variegated foliage and exceptional adaptability. As a refined hybrid of the Australian native Lomandra longifolia, this variety offers improved cold tolerance and ornamental appeal while maintaining the low maintenance nature that Lomandra is known for. It quickly became popular among gardeners and landscape designers for its ability to thrive in tough conditions while maintaining a graceful appearance.

Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra Care

Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra thrives in full sun or partial shade and adapts easily to a wide range of soil types, including sandy, loamy, and even lightly clay soils. It performs best in well-drained conditions and should be watered regularly until established. Once mature, it becomes quite drought-tolerant and can also withstand conditions like heat, humidity, and salt spray, making it an excellent option for coastal landscapes. Pruning is rarely needed, but occasional trimming of older foliage in early spring can refresh its look.

Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra Features

This compact, evergreen grass-like plant typically grows 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, forming soft, rounded clumps of arching foliage. Each blade features distinct creamy white and green variegation that shimmers in sunlight, creating a unique visual effect in garden beds or decorative pots. Although it produces small, creamy yellow flowers in spring, its foliage is the true star, offering texture and color that complement other flowering shrubs and perennials. Hardy in USDA Zones 8 through 10, Platinum Beauty™ Lomandra provides year-round appeal in warm and coastal regions, withstanding challenging conditions that many other ornamentals cannot.
