Little Blondie™ Blue Grama Grass

This High Country Gardens grama grass selection will be the star of your summer garden. Little Blondie™ Blue Grama Grass (Bouteloua x Little Blondie™ 'Zig Zag', a cross between B. gracilis and B. hirsuta), was discovered by High Country Gardens' former Chief Horticulturist, the late David Salman, growing in the Santa Fe, NM landscape.

With a compact form, this low-maintenance grass is ideal for mass planting and small space gardens. This is a xeric native selection that grows in hot sites with poor sandy, rocky, or loam soil. Little Blondie™ is recommended for gardens west of the Mississippi and climates that receive 20'' or less of rain and snow each year, and is suitable for high elevations above 7,000 feet. It’s a fantastic, long-lived perennial to complement all types of perennials and other ornamental grasses, including Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium), Ratibida (Prairie Coneflower), and native bush sages (Salvia).
