LeAnn Cleyera

The LeAnn Cleyera is a refined, fast-growing evergreen shrub that adds graceful structure and year-round color to the landscape. This Cleyera japonica selection features glossy, deep green leaves with a reddish-bronze tint on new growth that shifts with the seasons, offering four-season interest without the fuss. With its naturally upright, layered form and dense foliage, the LeAnn Cleyera is perfect for creating polished privacy screens, foundation plantings, or evergreen backdrops in formal and informal designs.

Whether lining a fence, softening a home's foundation, or creating a natural screen between outdoor living spaces, this Cleyera shrub brings timeless beauty and low-maintenance reliability. It pairs beautifully with flowering shrubs like camellias, gardenias, or azaleas and is an excellent alternative to hollies or laurels for Southern gardens.

How to Care for LeAnn Cleyera

This Japanese Cleyera thrives in USDA Zones 7–10, performing best in part sun to full sun (at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily). Plant it in well-drained, slightly acidic soil for optimal health and color. It's naturally deer-resistant, pest-resistant, and drought-tolerant once established. Space plants 4–6 feet apart for hedges or allow more room if planting as a standalone specimen.

Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain shape and size, though its naturally elegant form typically needs little intervention.
