Insurrection Tobacco & Cognac Cologne

There is a smoky, fruity complexity to Tobacco Cognac Cologne right from the opening, apricot, apple, roseberry, and incense combining into something warmer and more serious than the typical Insurrection release. White wood, patchouli, guaiac wood and vetiver deepen the centre of this eau de parfum into a dry, woody stretch that bridges the fruity top and the rich base ahead. Leather, saffron, musk, and vanilla close the composition, dark and resinous, living up to the tobacco and cognac reference in its name without literally including either ingredient. Tobacco Cognac Eau de Parfum belongs to evenings, dinners, and cold weather occasions, its leather-forward drydown reading as mature and considered rather than loud. Reyane Tradition aimed for something closer to niche oriental perfumery with this release, and the layered base largely succeeds in that ambition.
