Description
A flower with a delicious finale! Hungarian Breadseed is an Eastern European heirloom whose luminous white to pale lavender-pink petals seem almost weightless, especially against their dark central blotches and blue-green, toothed foliage.
Once the spring flowers finish, substantial urn-shaped capsules take center stage. They are beautiful left in the garden or gathered for dried arrangements, and when fully mature they hold the sweet, nutty seeds that have made poppy-seed baking a cherished Central European tradition. The 3–4-foot plants bring both grace and usefulness to a sunny bed.
