Bower & Branch Landscape Design Tip:

For the best color and leaf quality, give this Japanese maple morning sun and some protection from intense afternoon heat, especially in warmer regions. Plant in well-drained soil and keep moisture consistent, particularly during the first few seasons. Add mulch to protect roots and moderate soil temperature, keeping mulch away from the trunk. Prune sparingly in late winter to highlight its natural branching and remove any crossing or inward-growing stems. Place it where backlighting will catch the leaves, because when the sun filters through that red foliage, the whole tree practically glows.
