Description
This beige vintage rug is a hand-woven, one-of-a-kind Anatolian heritage piece featuring flatwoven construction, a faded patina, abrash detail, and an overdyed finish. With its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, and offers a reversible weave, soft-touch distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones.
About This Style
Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, and distressed surface treatments that mimic decades of use. Distressing frequently involves overdying—a process where the rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath to create a ghost-pattern effect—while medallion and floral motifs remain central to the traditional Anatolian design vocabulary. These rugs represent the mid-20th-century tradition of village-workshop production, utilising regional motifs that define the aged character of the piece.
Where It Works
The flatwoven construction of this rug ensures it lies flat against the floor, making it highly functional for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. It is compatible with underfloor heating systems and is suitable for layering over larger carpets to define specific zones.
