About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by an aged aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments that reference mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving traditions. Distressed styles mimic decades of wear through selective fading or overdying, a process where the original rug is submerged in a saturated bath, leaving ghost traces of the original pattern visible beneath the wash. Medallion designs serve as a hallmark of this tradition, presenting a dominant central geometric motif framed by a structurally distinct border.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this piece to lie perfectly flat against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, living rooms, and kitchens. Its profile is compatible with underfloor heating systems and serves as an ideal base for layering over larger rugs.
