Gigita - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'6 X 9'6

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece celebrates Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, featuring a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. With its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly and underfloor-heating safe, offering a reversible weave, soft-touch distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments. Distressed rugs utilise surface treatments that mimic age, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile that reveals the base structure, often achieved through an overdyed finish that leaves ghost traces of the original pattern visible. Medallion rugs are defined by a central circular, oval, or diamond-shaped motif, which in Turkish tradition is typically rendered in geometric forms and framed by a structurally distinct border.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this rug to lie completely flat, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. It is compatible with underfloor heating systems and is ideal for layering over larger rugs or carpets.

Why Choose This Rug?

• — Features a prominent geometric medallion motif set against a rich, overdyed turquoise ground with visible ghost-pattern details.
• — Constructed from a cotton and polyester blend; cotton provides breathability, while polyester ensures durability, moisture resistance, and suitability for everyday use.
• — The flatwoven construction features no pile, ensuring the rug lies flat against the floor and resists shedding.
• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
• — Highly functional design that is layering-friendly, safe for underfloor heating, and durable enough for high-traffic environments.
