Gibion - Vintage Medallion Rug - 5'4 X 9'0

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece from the Anatolian heritage tradition features a flatwoven construction, faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. With its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly and underfloor-heating safe. The reversible weave, soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones define this rug.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an aged aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash colour variation, and distressed surface treatments. Medallion motifs serve as a central anchor, typically rendered in geometric forms within a distinct border, while floral elements incorporate botanical patterns derived from traditional Ottoman and mid-century regional vocabulary. Distressing techniques, such as overdyeing, reveal ghost traces of the original pattern, creating an authentic, worn-look surface that reflects the history of 20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction allows this rug to lie completely flat, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, entryways, and kitchens. Its profile is layering-friendly, enabling use over larger carpets, and it is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems.
