About This Style

Vintage rugs evoke an antique aesthetic, often characterised by faded tones, abrash colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments. Distressed vintage rugs utilise specific surface treatments to mimic age, such as erased pile areas that reveal the base structure or overdyeing, where a rug is submerged in a single-colour bath to create a ghost-pattern effect. The medallion design serves as a dominant central motif, frequently rendered in geometric forms and framed by a distinct border, reflecting the classical tradition of mid-20th-century Anatolian weaving.

Where It Works

The flatweave construction allows this rug to lie flush against the floor, making it highly functional for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and entryways. Its thin profile is ideal for layering over larger rugs or carpets, and it is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems.

• — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production.
• — Engineered for practicality, this rug is fully reversible, layering-friendly, and safe for use over underfloor heating.
