Flais - Vintage Floral Rug - 5'7 X 8'3

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece celebrates Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, featuring a faded patina with abrash detail and an overdyed finish. Its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable, layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, reversible weave, soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, and sun-bleached tones offer a unique aesthetic.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, or worn-look surface treatments. These pieces reference the mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving tradition, where items were produced in small village workshops using regional motifs. Distressing in these rugs often results from decades of use combined with overdyeing, a process where the original rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath, leaving ghost traces of the original pattern visible beneath the wash. Floral motifs in these works range from densely scrolled all-over fields to mid-century rose-bouquet repeats, reflecting both traditional Ottoman vocabulary and 20th-century regional variations.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction makes this rug suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and living rooms. Its profile is layering-friendly and compatible with underfloor heating systems.
