Degua - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'1 X 8'9

This purple hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece embodies Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction, showcasing a faded patina with abrash detail and an overdyed finish. Featuring a low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly and underfloor-heating safe. Its reversible weave offers a soft-touch, distressed character with a ghost-pattern, reflecting 70s craftsmanship, a cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones.

About This Style

Vintage rugs are defined by their aged aesthetic, frequently utilising faded tones and abrash-like colour variations to evoke mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving traditions. Distressed rugs incorporate surface treatments that mimic decades of wear, such as selectively faded zones or erased pile that exposes the underlying structure. The overdying process involves submerging the rug in a saturated colour bath, which creates a ghost-pattern where the original motifs remain visible beneath the new wash.

Where It Works

The flatwoven construction of this rug ensures it lies flush against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas like hallways, entryways, and kitchens. It is also compatible with underfloor heating systems and serves as an ideal base for layering over larger carpets.
