Description
This green hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece captures Anatolian heritage through a flatwoven construction featuring a faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. With its low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable, layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, reversible weave, soft-touch, distressed character, ghost-pattern, 70s craftsmanship, cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal, and sun-bleached tones, it offers a distinct aesthetic.
About This Style
Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash-like colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments. These pieces frequently reference the mid-20th-century Anatolian hand-weaving tradition, where items were produced in village workshops using regional motifs. Distressed styles utilise overdying—a process where the rug is submerged in a saturated colour bath—to create a ghost-pattern effect, while floral designs incorporate botanical forms like blossoms and vines that reflect Ottoman and regional 20th-century vocabulary.
Where It Works
The flatwoven construction allows this rug to lie flat against the floor, making it suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and entryways. Its profile is compatible with underfloor heating systems and is ideal for layering over larger carpets.
