The Claddagh is the traditional Irish ring of romance. It is given as a keepsake between friends, and worn with the heart facing outwards, offering itself to the world. Then when friendship turns to love, the claddagh is turned, so that the heart is taken. This enduring symbol has been an Irish tradition for hundreds of years.
