Camassia leichtlinii 'Blue Danube'

Camassia leichtlinii 'Blue Danube' is striking when planted in groups. Lovely spikes of up to 80 deep blue florets with yellow stamens fill large racemes that rise above clumps of narrow leaves.

This small American genus of bulbous plants produces long, straight stems bearing dozens of small, star-shaped flowers in varying shades of blue, cream, and white. Unlike most bulbs, Camassias are quite tolerant of winter wet and will prosper in damp sites. Camassias flower in late spring, a time when most Daffodils and Tulips are gone, but the full glory of June perennials still lies ahead.
