Bordeaux Anemone

Rich, velvety, and just a little brooding, Bordeaux is an anemone for gardeners who love deep color. Each single, poppy-like bloom opens a saturated wine-red to burgundy, set off by a dark, inky center ringed in fine stamens. The contrast gives every flower a bold, graphic quality that reads beautifully from across the garden and even better up close.

A classic De Caen-type anemone, Bordeaux has a simple, open form with broad, satiny petals that catch the light and shift from ruby to deep claret as the day moves along. Blooms are held on slender stems above finely cut, parsley-like foliage, giving the plant an airy, graceful look despite its intense coloring. It is compact enough for the front of a border or a container, where its jewel-box tones can be admired at eye level.
