A traditional furniture look does not have to come with the extra length of a stairway bunk. This dark cherry twin-over-full end-ladder bed places a twin above a roomy full-size lower bunk while keeping the overall frame about 20" shorter than the stairway version. The four-step ladder sits at the end of the bed, can be positioned at either end toward the front or back, and uses flat rungs for a broader foothold. The dark cherry-stained finish gives the compact layout a warm, substantial appearance.

The solid Brazilian pine frame contains no particleboard and can later be separated into one twin bed and one full-size bed. Because the ladder doesn't occupy the front of the bed, the area beneath the lower bunk stays accessible for optional storage drawers or a trundle.
