Description

Wedding season sales built the reputation of Beautiful Perfume, released in 1985 and still marketed around that same occasion decades later. Galbanum, rose, lily, black currant, fruity notes, cassia, mandarin orange, bergamot and lemon crowd an enormous top accord in this Eau de Parfum. Tuberose, carnation, marigold, mimosa, narcissus, jasmine, ylang-ylang, chamomile, lily-of-the-valley, geranium, magnolia, lilac, orange blossom, freesia, pink violet, sage and neroli build one of the most elaborate floral hearts in mainstream perfumery. Sandalwood, amber, vetiver, musk, cedar and vanilla close out a rich, classic base. Estée Lauder classifies this Beautiful Eau de Parfum as floral, built for evening and formal occasions where that density has ample room to unfold. Galbanum opening the entire composition is a distinctly bold structural choice, a sharp, green, almost bitter resin that cuts through what would otherwise be an overwhelmingly sweet floral rush, giving the first impression actual edge before the seventeen-note heart even arrives. Few fragrances attempt a floral bouquet this large, and fewer still manage to keep it coherent rather than muddled, which is precisely why it stays one of the most consistently gifted fragrances for weddings and anniversaries four decades after its original launch.
