Azalea 'Red Pepper' Red Blooms

Deciduous Azalea

Zones 6-9

Azalea ‘Red Pepper’ is a spectacular deciduous azalea prized for its vibrant, fragrant blooms and excellent heat tolerance. In early to mid-spring, deep red buds open to reveal brilliant orange-red to crimson, ruffled trumpet-shaped flowers measuring 3–4 inches across. The blooms carry a wonderful spicy fragrance that makes this azalea especially appealing in the spring garden.

With medium green deciduous foliage and a naturally attractive growth habit, ‘Red Pepper’ reaches approximately 6–8 feet tall and 4–8 feet wide at maturity. It performs best in morning sun with afternoon shade and rich, moist, acidic, well-drained soil. Hardy in Zones 6–9, ‘Red Pepper’ is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a bold, fragrant azalea that thrives in the heat and humidity of the Southeast.
