While the striking colors of tropical milkweed attract many pollinators and beneficial insects, it's critical to cut back the foliage of plants grown in warmer climates—where they don’t go dormant—in mid-November. This helps prevent disruption to the Monarch butterfly’s migration and also reduces the spread of a parasite that specifically harms Monarchs.
