Morning Sun to Afternoon Shade

Acer circinatum 'Bort's Broom' is a unique dwarf form of the Northwest USA native Vine Maple, with a compact, bushy growth habit rather than the lankier form of the species. Its green foliage can develop a striking cherry-red appearance when grown in sun, giving it excellent seasonal interest. It prefers morning sun and afternoon shade but can tolerate some hot sun as long as it is not exposed all day. Plant in organic-rich, well-drained soil and keep evenly watered during hot, dry periods. It can reach approximately 4–6 ft tall and wide over time.
