Description

Enjoy an extended display of snowdrops with three distinctive varieties selected to bloom in succession from January through March.

The story behind these exquisite snowdrops takes place in the Dutch village of Breezand, where Patrick van den Berg and his son carry on a family tradition of growing exceptional flower bulbs. Patrick’s father started the family nursery, and when, around 2001, a shipment of snowdrop bulbs from Turkey arrived, Patrick's interest was piqued. He noticed something unusual--snowdrops that bloomed at distinctly different times early in the year.

He began sorting harvested bulbs according to subtle variations in color and form, then continued refining his selections for years to ensure each maintained its unique character and vigor. The result is this exceptional trio of Galanthus elwesii, or Giant Snowdrops. Snow Fox starts the show in January, Beluga follows in February and Polar Bear completes the display in March.

Each variety offers its own distinctive beauty. Snow Fox features larger-than-usual, honey-scented white bells with elegant green markings. Beluga produces oversized, bell-shaped white flowers with gently curved outer petals, often with three blooms per bulb. Polar Bear finishes the season with unusual outward-facing white flowers, overlapping inner petals and striking dark green markings.

Hardy, healthy and well suited to naturalizing, these special snowdrops bring Patrick van den Berg’s generations of family experience—and his passion for this remarkable flower—to your own garden.

This collection includes:
  • 15 Snow Fox: These larger-than-usual snowdrops bring winter to life with honey-scented, bell-shaped, nodding white flowers featuring elegant green markings and a soft olive-green ovary.
  • 15 Beluga: This new cultivar shows off oversized, bell-shaped white blooms with gently curved outer petals—often three to a bulb. Looks best planted in generous drifts.
  • 15 Polar Bear: The unique horizontal-facing white flowers open with overlapping inner petals adorned with distinctive dark green markings. The 1¼" bell-like blooms feature an inverted V-shaped green spot at the bottom.
